Flexstation in automated testing process

Flexible mount with storable pin setup for complex aerospace engineering workpieces for precise position stabilization during measurement processes

Overview

Challenge

In the quality control of aviation components — for example in the area of hydraulic distributors — a 100% inspection of the production parts must be carried out. This requires each component to be clamped in at least two layers.

Traditionally, this means at least two devices for each part, which entails high costs, long lead times and limited flexibility in the testing process.

Matrix solution

With the FLEXSTATION Matrix uses a programmable clamping system that positions a wide variety of metal housings securely and repeatably — without any specific brackets.

The adaptive support points are calculated from 3D models of the workpieces using MATRIX software in just a few mouse clicks and saved in a program associated with the component.

The FLEXSTATION loads the program and adjusts the device fully automatically. This means that a custom-fit and repeatable device is designed and manufactured in just a few minutes.

Voices from the shop floor

Our customers benefit from MATRIX workpiece handling every day.
"With the Matrix system, we not only save on the construction of fixtures, but above all gain process reliability—even with changing shapes and high quantities. The solution has been running stably for us for years in two and three-shift operation."
