Challenge
In the automated production of die-cast aluminum components — such as chassis or structural components — several variants per product family often have to be handled. Each variant usually requires a separate gripper, which results in high set-up costs, additional space requirements and significant investment costs for multiple devices.
Matrix solution
With an adaptive gripper system (Flex Clamp) from Matrix, a single robotic gripper can react flexibly to various component geometries — without retooling or manual intervention. The component is picked up directly from the transport device and inserted in the exact position for further processing (e.g. for storage pressing). The solution not only saves devices, but also time, space and engineering costs.
